Binfer is a great option to send large files directly from computer to computer, without uploading to a server. You can send hundreds of files of any size with a simple drag and drop. Binfer will manage the transfers with auto resumes, encryption, notifications etc. Check it out: http://www.binfer.com

Well they supposedly encrypt their files using AES-256 bit encryption, so I'm fairly confident the files are secure. As for legal complications, Dropbox uses Amazon's S3 service to store files. I honestly don't know if there are problems with entrusting personal information to other companies (both Amazon and Dropbox), but I don't think you can run a business without entrusting others with your information at some point.

In summary, I don't know!

We have been using dropbox. I am trying to find out about the security of the stored files. I wonder if it is secure and legal to use this to back up company files that has customer information in them. Does anyone know?

The problem with DropBox is that you have to put everything in the DropBox folder to sync it (or kluge it using "symbolic links"--what a nightmare!) Try SugarSync. Much simpler. It also has the under-advertised "WebSync" feature, which lets you open cloud files of any kind as if they were local files (with edits automatically synced up to the cloud). My only complaint is that it's sometimes a bit slow, but this is rarely relevant, since it takes time to drive from work to home and vice-versa!

Interesting, it is certainly a lot cheaper. I'd try it now if I hadn't paid for the year of Dropbox. Thanks for that!
